Tonight I opened my scriptures up to D&C 24 and read that section. I really liked the first part of the section, which is revelation to Joseph Smith. I found it really interesting in verse 9 that the Lord actually tells Joseph that "in temporal labors thou shall not have strength, for this is not thy calling." It is clear that he will have strength to accomplish his calling which includes teaching the church and continuing to ordain leaders with the power and authority they need to carry on the Lord's work. This, to me, teaches that the Lord will give us all the strength that we need to fulfill our callings and mission in life, so one of the most important things we can do is to seek to understand our calling... to know what the Lord expects of us and hopes we will accomplish in our life. I feel that my calling is to be a powerful wife and mother, to lay a righteous foundation for my family for generations to come and also to be an example to other families of love and righteousness in family life. I know the Lord will strengthen me in fulfilling this calling and for this, I couldn't be happier.

My favorite verse in this section was verse 7 that says, "For thou shalt devote all thy service in Zion; and in this thou shalt have strength." Zion, to me, means being of one heart and one mind, in other words: LOVE. Everything I do in life centers around this purpose: to love others and teach others to love as well. That's what I hope to accomplish through counseling, which is why I am pursuing my degree in social work. It's what I hope to accomplish in my business as well. And it's what I hope to accomplish within my family, which is why I strive to live the gospel of Jesus Christ to its fullest. I am passionate and enthusiastic at working towards building Zion. I love life and learning and growth. It is fun and exciting!
