Tonight I read chapter 13 in the Gospel Principles manual about the Priesthood of God. I am grateful to believe that the power and authority of God is restored on earth to worthy male members of this church. It is significant that the Priesthood is only effective when used in righteousness, "by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned." Those are characteristics that I believe are common to women, and I believe that a righteous man desiring to exercise the Priesthood properly is blessed in also developing those same Christlike characteristics. I really liked the quote in this chapter by David O. McKay that says, "every many who uses the Priesthood in righteousness will find his life sweetened, his discernment sharpened to decide quickly between right and wrong, his feelings tender and compassionate, yet his spirit strong and valiant in defense of right; he will find the Priesthood a never failing source of happiness - a well of living water springing up unto eternal life." What a blessing! And I'll tell you want, that is exactly the kind of man I hope my husband will always be.
