Tonight I read Alma chapter 22 which is the story of Aaron teaching King Lamoni's father. This is the same father that earlier Ammon had been warned not to visit or he would kill him. I love this story because it teaches that anyone can experience a change of heart... it happens a little at a time, one experience at a time. Because of his interactions with Ammon, the king was very open and was seeking answers to his questions. The Lord answered those questions for him and he became converted. Before that happened, he expressed a great desire to know for himself and he also expressed a willingness to give up everything he had. I see that as showing desire and commitment, and both are essential to personal conversion experiences. He also was absolutely humbled and willing to believe what Aaron taught. I believe that openness helps us to truly understand the principles of the gospel and gain a testimony of them of our our own.
