Tonight I'm reading a Conference talk: All Things Work Together for Good by James B. Martino. What a great talk this was. I loved the story of the boy swinging his bat at his ball and missing three times when he says decidedly, "what a pitcher!" It really is all about our perspective and we have to be deliberate in our choice of a positive perspective. I love the doctrine included in this talk that we're all going to have trials and they "allow us to become more like the Savior as we learn to recognize the good that comes from each experience." And it's not what happens to us, but "how we react to those difficulties that will determine our happiness and success."

He suggests five things we can learn from the Savior's life to help us face our own trials:
  1. Seek not to do our own will, but only the will of the Father
  2. Learn not to complain or murmur
  3. Seek greater help from God
  4. Learn to serve and think of others
  5. Forgive others and do not seek to pass on blame
I believe these are great and valuable pieces of wise counsel and counsel that I really feel I have been able to implement in my life. It truly does make all the difference and helps me so much in everything I do, especially the hard things. What a wonderful talk.
